The excitement is building for the fourth annual J Ffrench 9-a-side Tournament which takes place on Saturday (9 September) at Tir Chonaill Park, Greenford.
Organised by Tara, the tournament will see teams from across Britain descend on west London, including Beann Eadair from Howth in Dublin and Shannon Gaels from Cavan, as well as John Mitchell’s of Birmingham.
“It’s the biggest tournament outside of the All Britain Competition and we’re delighted with how it’s grown over the past three years,” said London Ladies Chair Lucia Butler.
“We started the tournament with the aim of giving girls the opportunity to play football and to promote Gaelic Games, and we’re looking forward to another fantastic tournament on Saturday.”
The girls will be playing for a Cup, Shield and Plate within each age group: U16: 9-a-side (Panel of 14) U14: 9-a-side (Panel of 14) U12: 9-a-side (Panel of 14). The day will start with registrations at 9.30am with games getting underway at 10.00am.
Food and a drink will be kindly sponsored on the day by Justin French. The format is 9-a-side plus five subs, however, in the interest of promoting Gaelic football teams with only seven players will be accommodated.
Players must remain with the same team they registered with throughout the tournament. If a club enters two U14 teams players are not permitted to cross over between the two teams.
Please note that only girls registered with the LGFA are eligible to play in the Tara Youth GFC J Ffrench Tournament.
