Tom Hardy and Noomi Rapace’s political period thriller Child 44 is due to hit cinemas in April 2015.
The murder-mystery is set in 1950s Stalinist Russia and also stars Joel Kinnaman, Gary Oldman, Paddy Considine and Vincent Cassel.
Summit Entertainment has given the film a release date of April 17, 2015 – just before the blockbuster summer hits arrive en masse.
Child 44 follows a member of the Soviet Union police and former war hero, played by London-Irish actor Hardy, who is set up for treason and sent into exile to a remote outpost.
Here he starts to unearth a series of child murders connected to well-connected members of a political party, and vows to catch the elusive killer, despite those in power trying to silence him. Rapace plays his wife.
The film, which is adapted from the Tom Rob Smith best-selling novel of the same name, is directed by Safe House’s Daniel Espinosa.
