It can be difficult if you have fine hair – you try and find products to make your locks bouncy and volumised, but using said products can sometimes leave your tresses limp and lifeless. Thankfully there are now a host of products on the market that boast the ability to give your barnet a boost without making it greasy.

Mousses

The thought of a hair mousse might take you back to the days of Dynasty, but these are actually a really good way to inject some volume into lacklustre locks. The most important thing is to choose a product which will allow you to maintain a volumised hair look throughout the day and into the evening. Kerastase’s Resistance Volumifique Mousse is a good one for this, as it gives an initial boost of volume, which is then continued for hours. It also has an anti-static effect which prevents hair from becoming fly-away, which it can do sometimes when you try and create artificial volume.

Label.m has a new Thickening range, which features a Volume Foam. “Thicker, fuller hair has always been an issue close to my heart,” Sacha Mascolo-Tarbuck, label.m’s Global Creative Director, said. “To help create healthy looking locks, weightless volume and lift are key. This latest prescriptive range from label.m helps to add volume from root-to-tip and instantly visible thickness to any hair type whilst nourishing and protecting hair from damage.”

Sprays

If mousses sound like too much of a sticky hassle, then why not try a spray? A quick and easy option to boost your locks, there are a huge variety of options on the market.

Start in the shower, using Kerasilk’s Repower foam conditioner. This makes sure your hair is left in fantastic condition without weighing it down, thanks to the unique aerosol format of the product.

Time Bomb’s High Profile Thicken + Lift Spray is a fantastically effective volumising spray, available from the Time Bomb website and shopping channel QVC. Described as “filler for hair”, this spray has an immediate effect by getting right to the root of the hair to create body and bounce without any stickiness. Alternatively, KMS California have a whole ADDVOLUME range, with their volumising spray proving very popular with customers.

Christophe Robin’s Instant Volumizing Mist with Rose Water is a favourite of celebrity hairdresser Jen Atkin, who counts the Kardashians among her famous clients. She recommended it in a recent interview with Glamour magazine when asked to name her top five hair products – leading to it becoming a sell-out item. As well as giving your hair body, the rose makes your locks smell amazing.

For a high street alternative try Mark Hill’s Extreme Root Lift Spray, which is packed full of ingredients, to give your hair a boost right from the root.
