Hollywood star Colin Farrell is believed to be in negotiations to join the cast of True Detective for its second season.
If the Dublin-born actor does join Season Two of the award-winning series, which stars Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson, it is believed the show would then focus on three leads and be set in California.
The TV series is notable for its use of high profile Hollywood stars playing the leads. “I think the people we will cast will be well known names,” President Michael Lombardo said, “But that wasn’t out ambition (in season 1).”
It is unknown whether Farrell will be joined by a female co-star, but there were hopes that season 2 would include better parts for women, as the show’s creator Nic Pizzolatto has confirmed there will be one significant female character.
HBO said at their TCA session that the second series will be “more exciting” than the first.
