Elizabeth Hurley looks so far removed from her red carpet glamour when she’s at her country home that fans wouldn’t recognise her in a police line-up

The British actress has been known for her daring wardrobe choices from the get go, donning the now infamous Versace safety pin dress when she accompanied then-boyfriend Hugh Grant the premiere of Four Weddings and a Funeral in 1994. However when she’s not at a glitzy event, Elizabeth prefers to keep it casual.

“Probably that I look groomed and glamorous the whole time,” she told Britain’s Grazia magazine of people’s biggest misconceptions of her. “Off-duty in the county, you wouldn’t recognise me in a police line-up.”

She’s also slightly more relaxed about her diet when she’s away from the limelight, indulging her sweet tooth when she fancies it.

“I can’t walk past a jar of peanut butter without sticking my finger into it,” she smiled.

Elizabeth turned 50 in June last year (15), but looks much younger than her years. Despite her fame and flawless complexion, her attitude to ageing is refreshing. She admits she doesn’t have any specific secrets but says it can sometimes be tough to cope with how her appearance is changing as she get older.

“I try to look after myself,” she previously told Britain’s OK! magazine. “I have been working for Estee Lauder for 21 years, I’ve had a lot of products in my time at my fingertips and I’ve used a lot of it. You have to look after yourself and try. You know it’s an uphill struggle, we know that.”
