Eire Og and Dulwich Harps will shoot it out for top spot in Group B after the Downhills Park outfit eased to a comfortable win over Moindearg at McGovern Park on Saturday.

Despite one round of action still to play out, with two wins a piece both Eire Og and the Harps are guaranteed a semi-final place, with Mondearg and Naomh Padraig having lost both of their matches.

Moindearg had put in a spirited shift to run Dulwich Harps to within a point a week earlier, and they stuck with Eire Og for the opening 17 minutes.

Tommy Curran curled over a lovely score off his left peg, while Frank Carr was all power and strength before blasting over.

Those two strikes kept Moindearg snapping at the heels of Eire Og (0-3 to 0-2) but the warning signs were already there with the outstanding Dessie McTiernan getting to grips with the midfield, Aonghus O’Driscoll looking composed at centre back and Moindearg’s back line being given a difficult time at the hands of the lively John Bradley, Conor Fitzgerald and hat-trick hero Joe McMahon.

Despite the closeness of the scoreline, Eire Og were in the ascendency and the game swung decisively in their favour when McMahon picked himself up off the turf, after being dragged down in the square, to slot home the first of his two penalties.
