Survey says 1 in 40 living in Dublin has net assets of at least $1 million
One in 40 people living in Dublin is a dollar millionaire, according to a new survey by Spear’s Magazine and a private wealth consultancy, Wealth Insight published its findings last week.
Wealth Insight defines ‘millionaires’ as individuals with net assets of US$1 million or more, excluding their primary residences. Dublin came 10th on the Spear’s/Wealth Insight list of European cities for most millionaires per capita, putting it ahead of Venice, Paris and Brussels.
The survey estimated there are 32,000 dollar millionaires living in Dublin. Monaco has the highest amount of millionaires, almost one in three.
Followed by Zurich and Geneva. London ranked fifth overall, the survey estimated that one in 29 people – in a city of 10 million – is a millionaire. Head of Wealth Insight Oliver Williams said most of Dublin’s millionaires earned their wealth from Dublin’s digital technology sector.
London has the sixth highest percentage of dollar millionaires of any city, with 3.39 per cent – that’s one in thirty – of its population a millionaire or above. There are a total of 281,000 millionaires based in the capital.
