Drone footage and archive shots build picture of Dublin 1916 and 2016 - Ireland during 1916 and in present day 2016
Ireland during 1916 and in present day 2016

To highlight the differences between the lives of Irish people in 1916 and those in 2016, Irish photography company ProDrone.ie compiled this video charting the evolution of Dublin.

Set to the haunting sounds of Sinéad O’Connor and The Chieftains performing the rousing “Foggy Dew,” the video switches between drone and archive footage.

Seen torn apart by the struggle for independence, the city is now captured as a thriving, vibrant capital named by the New York Times as one of the top places to visit in 2016.

ProDrone.ie is a professional Irish drone photography company. Taking archive footage from the Easter Rising, film footage of various screen projects based on the events of Easter week, and drone footage of Dublin in 2016, they created this short film that beautifully captures the incredible history paved into Dublin’s streets that we can take for granted while strolling past the generic shop faces you can find in any other city.
