Former Friends star Courteney Cox had to tackle a sheep scrotum crawling with maggots as she showed off her survival skills with TV adventurer Bear Grylls.
In a new trailer for next week’s (beg22Aug16) episode of U.S. series Running Wild with Bear Grylls, the 52-year-old picks apart the carcass of a sheep as her guide reveals it’s supper.
Filmed in remote Ireland last month (Jul16), Courteney’s episode proves she’s game to have a go at anything, but the actress clearly wasn’t happy when survivalist Bear revealed they’d be picking up their food for their journey on their travels, stating, “(We’ll eat) birds if you can catch them, worms, bugs, grubs, insects, flies, crickets, caterpillars…,” prompting a worried Cox to ask, “What are grubs?” adding, “I would rather eat grass than any of the things you just named.”
And her time in the Irish wilderness went downhill from there – Grylls revealed in the promo she was in tears when she realised what was on the menu for supper after the odd couple came across a dead sheep.
“She had tears pouring down her cheeks and I said, ‘Welcome to Ireland, this is what it’s like’,” he said. “I found this rotting sheep carcass and I thought, ‘Oh, good, I can give her some lamb’. I stuck the knife in and maggots exploded out. The blood drained from her face.”
And it seems Courteney still hasn’t got over the experience a month later: “She emailed me since and I think she’s got a bit of post-traumatic stress going on,” Bear smiles.
It wasn’t the actress’ first time in Ireland – she has been there several times and rekindled her romance with Irish rocker Johnny McDaid earlier this year (16).
Her episode of Running Wild With Bear Grylls airs in America on Monday (22Aug16).
This season’s celebrity survivalists have also included Julianne Hough and Nick Jonas.
