A HUGE gathering of choirs in Dublin is hoping to break the Guinness World Record for the largest group of carol singers ever – and raise funds at the same time for Sister Stanislaus’s poverty charity.

Stars, Choirs & Carols, hosted by Miriam O’Callaghan, is open to all individuals, singers and choirs and will take place at Croke Park Stadium on Thursday, December 19 from 7pm-9pm.

Over one hundred choirs and thousands of individual participants from all over Ireland will be joining celebrity guests Louis Walsh, Lisa Hannigan, The Celtic Tenors, Celine Byrne, The Army No 1 Band and Dublin Gospel Choir in this massive world record attempt.

Mr X Factor Louis Walsh is on the line-up

In addition to breaking the world record and getting into the festive spirit, of course, the group is hoping to raise some much-needed money for two very worthy charities,  and

Cliona’s Foundation provides financial assistance for families with critically ill children as featured in a recent Secret Millionaire programme. The Sanctuary, founded by Sr. Stanislaus Kennedy, provides an oasis for meditation and mindfulness in the centre of Dublin.

Tickets (€15) are available from For group bookings (9 or more persons) call 00353 1800 9010 90. For more on the event, see www.starschoirsandcarols.
