STARTING in January 2014, Artistic Director of Irish Repertory Theatre Company UK, Rosalind Scanlon, will be running a course of drama workshops in London for budding young Irish actors.
The 10 week course will introduce the basic skills of acting and attendees will learn how to build characters, how to improvise, how to project and how to move on stage.
There will also be the opportunity to work from several Irish contemporary and classic play scripts and scenes and monologues will be prepared for an end-of-term showcase performance.
Rosalind, who was formerly Artistic Direction of the Irish Cultural Centre, Hammersmith, said: “If you over eighteen and under thirty years of age and you dream of being up on stage or of going to Drama School, this course will be ideal for you. You don’t need to have done drama before – you just need to have the enthusiasm to give it a go!”
The course, which will lead to an end of term Theatre Showcase in front of a live audience, will introduce the students to many theatre texts as well as some of Ireland’s classic and contemporary plays.
The course takes place on Saturday mornings, beginning January 18 2014 (10am -12pm) at The Macbeth Adult Learning Centre, Macbeth Street in Hammersmith.
The cost is £112.00, with some concessions available for local residents. To book a place call The Macbeth Centre on 0845 839 7912, quoting DRAMA – Course Code PM2800.
