The action will be on the other side of the Atlantic this week for some of the big stars from the Aidan O’Brien stable, as Declaration of War leads the challenge in the $5 million Breeders Cup Classic.
This will be the first and only career start on dirt for the Son of War Front who retires to Coolmore after the race. This horse, who won the Juddmonte International, has proven himself over the mile and two furlong distance and the fact he has plenty of ‘dirt’ influences in his pedigree means I think he will be readied for a big race.
“He ran in all those races, close enough over different distances and he has an unbelievable constitution, he likes to be covered just off the pace to produce that burst,” said O’Brien.
“He has a lot of speed and it will be interesting to see, but he’s in good shape and we’re very happy with him. There are dirt horses on the both the sire and the dams side so we are looking forward to seeing him race.”
