Bella Hadid has been tapped to star in J.W. Anderson’s latest campaign
The American model is fast becoming one of the fashion industry’s most in-demand talents, scoring numerous magazine covers and walking the runways for the likes of Givenchy and Dior. But the 19-year-old has cemented her status as the model of the moment, by appearing in the imagery for Jonathan Anderson’s 2016 print advertising, marking the first time the Northern Irish designer has cast a major model front and centre for his eponymous line, having formerly opted for lesser known faces.
“When we were discussing the general concept of the campaign, we wanted a beautiful girl with a strong personality,” Anderson shared of his casting choice, according to Dazed.com. “Bella’s name came up and it was then decided!”
The photos were taken by Jamie Hawkesworth and Benjamin Bruno, who has previously lensed J.W.Anderson campaigns, with the images sharing the same artistic sensibilities. Hadid is captured as a screen actress on set, as well as in candid moments backstage, which are contrasted with an enigmatic image of a young boy with a puppet. She wears a black skirt with green and yellow frilled edging, which is matched with a dark teal silk shirt.
As well as Hawkesworth and Bruno, famed art direction duo M/M Paris also worked on the images, along with celebrated make-up artist Peter Philips and hairstylist Syd Hayes.
Featuring strong silhouettes, studded details and rows of zips that encircle trouser legs and hips, the collection has a futuristic feel, keeping in line with Anderson’s design aesthetics. The busy designer, who also helms Spanish heritage brand Loewe, has also recently collaborated with A$AP Rocky on an exclusive capsule collection, which was unveiled at London Men’s Fashion Week.
