Dunning is understood to have been nominated by several clubs to fill one of the positions on the three-man committee to be implemented for 2010. Liam Brennan, who has worked closely alongside Dunning for several years, and Martin McGrath are so believed to be have received strong support.

No decision was made last Monday (November 16) and the Management Committee meet again on November 30 to further discuss the nominations with a view to announcing the three-man committee seven days later at the December county board meeting.

“A few clubs have been in touch to let me know that they’ve nominated me but what happens now I don’t know,” Dunning told the Irish World. “As far as I’m aware I’ve have been nominated by nine or 10 out of the 20-odd football clubs, plus some hurling clubs.
