Kingdom retain Division one status

Playing down the hill and with a slight breeze at their backs, the Kingdom should have been more than two points ahead at the break, but three quick fire points at the start of the second half saw them open up a worrying lead for Parnells.

That lead was extended to seven-points virtue of Ciaran McCullion’s goal with less than ten minutes to play and the Kingdom looked home and dry, but Dara O’Donovan’s late goal reignited the game only for John Murphy’s injury time free to finally settle matters.

McCullion and Chris Hamill gave the Kingdom the early lead and it was they that dominated the opening quarter with Parnells slow to get out of the blocks. That dominance manifested itself in a 12th minute goal for John Murphy when Colm Foody took full advantage of a breaking ball to play in John Murphy and he coolly beat Aidan McGrory.
