McCarthy goes back to the Kingdom

Never say never, as former All Ireland winner Mike McCarthy is set to make a dramatic return to inter county football. The former Kerry fullback who quit the panel after their success in 2006 when he was 27 is poised to make a comeback for the Kingdom.

McCarthy still plays for his club Kilcummin, yet he has ignored calls to return to the Kerry set up, until now it seems. This comes as Kerry manager Jack O’Connor is set to ring the changes to Kerry side that went down heavily to a young and skilful Cork side in the Munster semi final.

But it remains to be seen if the changes will make any differences to the Kingdom who await the qualifiers draw this weekend
