New gay show to make Irish broadcast history

'The Cosmopolitan', given its name after the cocktail made famous in the New York sitcom 'Sex and The City', it will feature gay DJ Scott De Buitlear.

The show, which features gay community news and information as well as dance hits, will go out in Ireland on Wednesday nights on RTE Pulse, one of the six new digital radio services which officially launched this morning.

RTE Choice, RTE Radio One's sister digital station, will also screen 'This Way Out', an international radio show for gay people at 8pm every Saturday evening.

People can listen to the dance station, alongside five other new digital services, by visiting www.rte.ie and going to the digital selection or tuning in on special new Digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB) radios.

David Timpson, scheduler of RTE Pulse, said that this Wednesday's broadcast would be “history in the making”.
