Kielty gets in the saddle for charity

COMEDIAN Patrick Kielty is among a team of celebrities rising to the challenge in a BT Sport Relief Million Pound Bike Ride Team that will cycle the length of Britain.

They will attempt to raise £1 million on a non-stop cycle relay through day and night from John O’Groats to Land’s End, supported by BT.

Sport Relief veteran David Walliams has enlisted Kielty, Jimmy Carr, Fearne Cotton, Miranda Hart, Russell Howard, and Davina McCall for The BT Sport Relief Million Pound Bike Ride which launches this week.

The intrepid team will be setting off from John O’Groats and, after approximately 80 gruelling hours of non-stop cycling, will reach Land’s End. They will have to battle the elements as they each take turns to cycle through wind, rain, and rough terrain in order to cover the 1,000 miles and try to reach their massive £1 million target.

Each celebrity will take turns cycling while the others cheer them on from the tour bus — their home for four days. All the ups and downs of their journey will be captured for a documentary which will be broadcast on the BBC in the run up to the Sport Relief Weekend on March 19-21.

To help the team get off to a good start, BT is declaring ‘Chat for Change’ day on February 26. On behalf of its customers, BT will donate one penny to Sport Relief for every call made from a BT and a Plusnet home landline on that day.

The money raised through this challenge, with the help of BT, will be spent by Comic Relief to help vulnerable people living incredibly tough lives here in the UK and in some of the world’s poorest countries.
