Rail line from Arklow to Gorey reopens

A part of the track was closed just north of Inch, Co Wexford, three miles south of Arklow, Co Wicklow, after what seemed to be flood damage to an embankment supporting the line.

Iarnród Éireann said full services on the Dublin to Rosslare line have now resumed, replacing the existing bus transfers.

The Limerick to Ennis line is still closed due to flooding with bus transfers in operation.

The Dublin to Westport line has also had interrupted services due to flooding, with bus transfers in place between Athlone and Roscommon. It is believed these will remain in place until next week.

On the Dublin to Sligo line, flooding means there are also bus transfers between Carrick-on-Shannon and Longford.
