Collins costume auctioned for £3k

The costume Liam Neeson wore as the iconic Irish leader in the film 'Michael Collins' fetched £3,120 when it went under the hammer in London last week.

The lot was made up of a collection of outfits including a khaki green great coat with gold braid detailed epaulets with brass buttons.

It also carried the inscription 'Mr Liam Neeson, July 1995, No 3 Coat'. The outfit was part of a sale by Bonham's of Knightsbridge and included items from the Angels Collection of TV and Film Costumes.

A prisoner's uniform worn by Alan Rickman, who played Eamon De Valera, fetched £120 while a uniform worn by Aidan Quinn earned £264.

The best-selling lot of the day, however, was not Neeson’s outfit, but

Christopher Lee's 'Dracula' cape - which sold for a whopping £26,400!
