Corrigans to release Lord of the Dance

Universal Music and Decca Records artists, Ireland's Corrigan Brothers, the band who had the international hit with There's no one as Irish as Barack Obama have recorded and are about to release the inspirational song Lord of the Dance. By staff reporter - 05/02/10

The brothers, who have amassed six million you tube hits with their song about President Obama’s Irish heritage, have developed a great love for Christian music. Ger Corrigan, lead singer with the band explained about a year ago

“Aled Jones on BBC Radio 2 in the UK heard a song they recorded called Jesus Freak. He played it and the reaction from his three million strong listener ship was enormous. He was inundated with requests to replay it”.

Ger continued, “The song was written about a preacher I met on Oxford Street in London and describes a conversation with this man”. Not long after that Good Morning Sunday did a spotlight feature on Corrigan Brothers and asked the band to record Lord of the Dance for the show.

“Again the reaction was amazing and the brothers have since recorded, “Michael Row the boat ashore” and “Hand me Down my Bible” for the show. “There is something very comforting and inspiring about recording spiritual music and the reaction of audiences at our live shows to these songs is incredible” explained Ger.

This year the brothers plan to release a complete album of spiritual music. “We are excited about the prospect of a full album of spiritual music” said Ger. “We are thrilled the “Lord of the dance is coming out as a single in March”.

Corrigan Brothers have made over forty TV appearances across the world over the last year including, MSNBC’S Hardball, The O’Reilly Factor, two appearances on the CBS Sunday Show and appeared on the NBC Today Show on Saint Patrick’s day last year.

They also played at three inauguration events in Washington DC for President Obama’s inauguration and on Saint Patrick’s day last year Irish Prime Minister Brian Cowen presented President Obama with a copy of their CD, “There’s no one as Irish as Barack Obama”.
