Jack White and Wanda Jackson to collaborate By Shelley Marsden - 24/11/09

White & Wanda

Rocker Jack White of the White Stripes and the Raconteurs will again be dipping his cooler-than-thou toe into the big pond of country music!

This time, it will be as producer of Rockabilly Queen Wanda Jackson's new album. White played on and produced the L.P.

In 2004, he produced and played on country legend Loretta Lynn's critically acclaimed album 'Van Lear Rose,' – a move which made his new muse Jackson sit up and take notice.

"[He's] one of the biggest stars on the planet right now," she told The Oklahoman. "[Loretta and Jack] had a super album, but he didn't have her do anything different – she just did her little Loretta Lynn songs. But he told me he's gonna stretch me some, so we'll see!"

Monsieur White was introduced to Jackson through her website manager, Jon Hensley, after she discovered that he was a "big fan" of hers.

It’s not the first time Jackson, 72, has collaborated with rockers. In the last few years she has worked with artists like Dave Alvin, The Cramps, Rosie Flores, Lee Rocker, Cadillac Angels and Elvis Costello.
