John Spillane marked the launch of a new club night at the London Irish Centre in Camden with an acoustic performance recently.

The well-known Cork folk singer performed a number of his well known songs including “Mad woman of Cork” and “Johnny don’t go to Ballincollig” as part of the centre’s monthly “Rock Shandy” club night .

Spillane said, “I’m very happy with the turn out. I used to come to Camden long ago and play in the Stag’s Head, and they used to say that Camden Town is where the rough lie down, but there’s certainly nothing rough about the centre. It’s a beautiful venue.”

Spillane was ably supported on the night by up and coming Irish singer Jenny Linsford. Gary Dunne, who is cultural officer at the London Irish Centre said, “It’s great to see so many people at the centre, out enjoying themselves tonight.”

'Rock Shandy’ takes place at the London Irish Centre in Camden each month, and features a variety of contemporary Irish music acts.
