Plumbers' charity CD has Irish angle
An Irish member of the Pimlico Plumbers team has joined forces – and talents - to raise money for charity. By Angela Sammon - 22/10/09
Stuart Dunne, who previously played with London-Irish band Banna Strand, found fame with his co-workers when they won the BBC talent show “Tonight’s the Night”.
Their “Never Mind the Ballcocks” self-titled charity album was released last month, with all the proceeds going to The Prince's Trust (Pimlico Plumber's charity) and Action for Children (Plumb Center's charity).
The rock-n-roll plumbers signed a recording deal with nationwide distributor and Plumber's merchant Plumb Center, and the album is now distributed in its 600+ stores across the UK.
The four track album features songs that helped them win the title of “Workplace Wonders” on the BBC Show, Tonight's The Night, hosted by John Barrowman.
After their win, the four-piece group agreed to record the charity CD, which includes such hits as, Burning Love and Splish Splash I'm Taking a Bath. The CD will also feature the Queen classic, Crazy Little Thing Called Love and a popular bonus track, The Ballcocks' version of Valerie.
The band consists of heating engineer Stuart Dunne (lead vocals and guitar), Martin Botley (lead guitar), heating engineer Robbie Glanfield (bass guitar and backup vocals) and Billy Kikidis (drums).
Lead singer Stuart Dunne said: "We had a great time doing the show a couple of months ago, and the recording sessions and the CD are huge bonus for us, which I hope will benefit the charities a lot."
Copies of the CD are available from Pimlico Plumbers, Pimlico House, 1 Sail Street, London SE11 6NQ; or from any Pimlico Plumber!
