Alma mater of life & death

Alma Mater (Geffen) is out now - and you can win a copy! By staff reporter - 24/11/09

Alma mater of life & death

New album Alma Mater, featuring the voice of Pope Benedict XVI, is released in the UK on Sunday 29 November. Speaking and singing in Latin, Italian, Portuguese, French and German; this is the very first time that His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI will be heard on an album.

Simon Boswell (English), Stefano Mainetti (Italian) and Nour Eddine (Moroccan) are the three multi-faith composers that have come together to create a piece of music which transcends musical, religious and cultural boundaries.

The world famous Royal Philharmonic Orchestra plays on all eight specially commissioned pieces of music for Alma Mater, with the recording session

taking place at the iconic Abbey Road studios.
