St Anthonys will be out to ensure that the club’s 50th Anniversary year is marked in style when they take on Tir Chonaill Gaels in next weekend’s Junior Football Championship final at Ruislip.
The Reading club celebrated their milestone year with a Gala Dinner at the Madejski Stadium earlier this summer, but those celebrations will pale into insignificance should they disappear back down the M4 with the cup on Sunday.
Having booked their place in next weekend’s final with an impressive semi-final win over highly fancied Thomas McCurtains, Anthonys will also now be intent on a spot of revenge over the Greenford side.
It was Tir Chonaill who ended St Anthonys’ interest in last year’s championship in the semi-finals, and they followed that up in the round 1 of this year’s title race by dishing out an eight-point defeat.
Anthonys at the very least will have a point to prove, having failed to register a solitary point from play that day – the Gaels blowing the Reading side away with a strong second half display after a dour first-half showing from both teams.
