St Gabriel’s manager Tommy Duane believes that last year’s All Ireland adventure will stand to the club as they prepare for another assault on the Club Championship.
Gabriel’s made it all the way to Croke Park in February, seeing off Ulster champions Lisbellaw St Patrick’s and Killimordaly of Galway along the way, only to be edged out by Kilkenny’s Clara at the final hurdle.
That defeat will undoubtedly be a source of motivation for the London champions, and Duane believes the club have learnt from the experience.
“We would have gained a lot from playing in the All Ireland last year – you’ve got to be focused and fit,” he said.
“We’re definitely stronger – we’re more compact. We were probably a little bit light weight up front last year, but this year we’ve added some good quality players. We’re a more balanced side.”
