Croke Park 4

Bros Pearse 3-9
Fr Murphy’s 0-14

by Sean Moriarty

Bother Pearse’s booked their Ardent Tide London Senior Hurling semi-final after emerging victorious in a hard fought contest at Ruislip on Wednesday evening.

But there can be no doubt about it, last year’s defeated made hard work of  this tie. Father Murphy’s had yet to win a senior game this season and the men in green and gold were expected to brush them aside with ease.

No so. Granted they were without London county player Stephen Frawley who had returned to Limerick on a week’s summer holiday.

But it was the south London side that made all the early running.

Indeed the Murphy’s entered the break with a one point advantage- aided by the slight breeze that swept across the Ruislip pitch – and only for a Paddy Kelly goal midway through the first half the Pearses looked in trouble. Full-forward Danny Connolly was denied a second goal in the dying moments of part one thanks to a super save by Tom Moore.
