Tir Chonaill Gaels 2:08
Neasden Harps 1:12

By Gavin Mawn

Neasden Harps caused a major upset in the Senior Football Championships after defeating last year’s county finalists and favourites for this year title: Tir Chonaill Gaels 1:12 to 2:08.

It was largely down to striker Adrian Faherty who contributed one goal and six points in the match as the Gaels struggled to come to terms with the enthusiasm and energy in a very robust Neasden team.

Neasden were coming into the game as underdogs but were even less fancied after learning that Mark McConville, an ex-Derry player, will not be featuring in the game due to a slight niggle.

Gaels came out the traps flying showing professionalism in their performance and showing no signs of complacency. Points from Cathal McGee, Joe Feeney, Benny O’Reilly and Barry Mitchell raced them into a 0:04 to nothing lead within the first five minutes.
