Hundreds of passengers from a US-bound Aer Lingus flight had to spend the night in a hotel after their flight was forced to go return to DublinAirport yesterday evening.

It was decided to turn the plan around two hours into the flight, when seven of the eight cabin crew reported feeling unwell. The crew did not declare an emergency.

Flight EI-139 left Dublin for Boston at 4.20pm yesterday afternoon with 280 passengers on board.

The aircraft landed safely at 8.40pm last night and was met at Dublin Airport by medical personnel.

An airline spokesperson said that none of the staff required hospital treatment, and crew were sent home after the aircraft landed.

Nearly 300 passengers will be flying to Boston again later today.

An investigation has been launched by Aer Lingus into the incident.
