ONE Direction including Irish member Niall Horan are music’s top young earners, a new survey has revealed.

Niall, 20, from Mullingar, Co Westmeath, is worth £14m as is each of his bandmates, nearly triple the amount of 2013′s earnings. Collectively that makes One Direction the richest boy-bands in British music history, with a combined wealth of £70m.

But it’s not enough to bring them anywhere near the earning power of Ireland’s top entertainers U2. Bono and his pals are at number six on the latest annual survey of the biggest earners in music in Ireland and Britain, having between them accumulated a fortune of €1bn.

Horan is in joint fourth position with his band-mates in the under-30 category of the Richest Young Musician list.

The Music Millionaires List would suggest that U2 have suffered a big €110m drop in combined wealth – but that do is actually a result of their manager Paul McGuinness retiring – he now appears separately on the same list, at 32nd position and worth €125m.

Though she’s released no albums since 2011, Londoner Adele was named Britain’s richest young musician, according to the Sunday Times’ annual rich list.

Warner Music Group owner Len Blavatnik tops the list of the wealthiest people in music in the UK and Ireland, with an estimated worth of £10b, despite his wealth going down by £1bn over the past year.

All five members of One Direction – Niall, Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson all appear for the second time on the list.
