Conall Maskey has warned his Warwickshire team-mates to expect a Longford backlash at Glennon Brothers Pearse Park on Sunday.
The Warwickshire captain claimed a hat-trick when Longford were put to the sword, 8-19 to 0-5, when the sides last met at Pairc na hEireann a year ago, and Maskey believes that that defeat will be a huge source of motivation for Longford.
While the Exiles opened their league campaign with a 3-14 to 0-14 home loss to favourites Sligo, Longford’s draw with Leitrim in Ballinamore certainly suggests that Warwickshire cannot expect such an easy ride this time around.
“There’s going to be a big backlash after beating them so well last year. I know if I was in their shoes I’d be looking to get one over and get some pride back. I imagine they’ll be targeting our fixture,” said Maskey.
