CARR HITS THE ROAD WITH BURREN
By Damian Dolan
Aside from the peculiarity of seeing London club championship football taking place in February, one figure conspicuous by his absence from the sideline at the The Scrubs, as Tir Chonaill Gaels kicked off the defence of their senior title against Fulham Irish, was Paddy Carr.
After delivering the Greenford club a county title in its 50th Anniversary year, Carr has taken up the post as manager of Burren, and has already set his sights on regaining the Down county title – a trophy the club last lifted in 2011.
It is far from a case of him severing all ties with the Gaels, however, and Carr will simply revert to his former long standing role as the club’s director of football. After all, it’s only a change in his work situation which takes him to Drogheda and which therefore prevents him from doing “what needs to be done” at Tir Chonaaill, as he puts it.
