No Kilkenny fear factor for Fullen
David Neylon (centre) is urging his team mates to seize the chance to be champions
By Damian Dolan
Redemption for events in Charleville may be complete, but Manchester club Fullen Gaels have no intention of turning up at Croke Park on Sunday just to bask in the occasion.
Rewind 12 months and the three-time Warwickshire and All Britain champions were left licking their wounds after being sent packing from Walsh Park by Charleville of Cork with a 14-point defeat. Their Croke Park dream ended at the most cruel of stages.
David Neylon lined out at full back that afternoon in Waterford for the Gaels, and victory over Down’s Bredagh two weeks ago in Coolock more than made up for the pain of last year. After the joy of the club’s history making All Ireland quarter-final victory over Burt, it was a sobering defeat.
But now, on the eve of another historic day in the club’s short but eventful life, Neylon has urged his team-mates not to allow the opportunity to call themselves All Ireland champions to pass them by, as this group of players they will never get this chance again.
