Leinster Need A Miracle

Champions Leinster are facing up to the indignity of surrendering their Heineken Cup crown without making it out of the pool, after events in Dublin on Saturday.
Three in a row chasing Leinster were decidedly second best against Clermont Auvergne with their air of invincibility was shattered at the Aviva Stadium to leave their hopes of emulating Toulouse, in winning the trophy for a fourth time, hanging by the thinnest of threads following their 28-21 defeat.
“Miracles happen in sport, I guess, but mathematical long shots very seldom come into being,” said Leinster coach Joe Schmidt afterwards, and Leinster must cling to that belief having dug themselves into a hole.
