Irish professional cyclist Nicolas Roche will take part in a unique fundraiser on Thursday (August 14) when he will race against Irish champion jockey Pat Smullen on a Dermot Weld trained horse at Leopardstown race course to raise money for the Nicolas Roche Performance Team.

SmullenThe Horse Power Vs Pedal Power evening is expected to draw a huge crowd.

Given the importance of the Nicolas Roche Performance Team to developing the country’s up and coming cyclists, Roche said he hopes for a good turnout.

“I’m look forward to seeing everyone there,” he said.

“It promises to be a great night and funds raised will help the team going forward into the 2015 season. I also have to try to figure out how to beat one of Ireland’s top Jockeys and trainers.
