The London Irish Centre in Camden, established in 1954, is 60 this year and is inviting everyone to a party at its historic Camden Square base.
It you’re part of that generation of fresh-faced new arrivals that landed ‘off the boat’ and in London in the 1950s, or if you’ve arrived a little more recently, or if you or your parents were born to parents from that era – you are invited.
The day’s festivities will start with afternoon tea dance and social at 2pm leading into a drinks reception at 6pm, and a 60th Anniversary Celebration ‘of reflection and connections’ followed by live music and dancing ’til late.
Guest of honour will be Ireland’s Ambassador to Britain Dan Mulhall, who, with his wife Greta, in the year since they took up their London posting, have been tireless supporters of Irish community events throughout the country.
There is no charge to attend the event – although voluntary donations of £19.54 are being sought to subsidise places for the centre’s more elderly service users – but places must be registered in advance by emailing email@example.com or calling 02074282093 before September 8.
