Bruce Springsteen was in the RDS today to cheer on his daughter Jessica riding in her debut Dublin Horse Show.
The last time Jessica was at the RDS was three years ago to watch her dad perform. Bruce is no stranger to the venue himself, having performed there eleven times.
The New Jersey rider is strongly tipped to be a future star of the Olympics, and her mother Patti Scialfa was also there to give moral support to the 22-year-old student.
Gerry Molumby was there to capture images as the show got off to a roaring start in the Dublin sunshine, with Lord Mayor Christy Burke also in attendance at the 141st outing of the show.
The five-day event is expected to attract 100,000 visitors and to generate over than €40m for the local economy.
The best of Irish-bred and international horses, competitors and breeders are expected at the venue over the course of the week. There are over 125 competitions being held and the programme includes 14 international show jumping events, with almost €1m in prize money to be won.
Tomorrow is Blossom Hill Ladies Day at the RDS which is sure to lure an array of fashions to south Dublin as women fight for the title of Best Dressed Lady.
The winner will walk away with a shopping trip to New York City worth up to €8,000. Gentlemen however, are not feel left out, as there is also a prize available for the g Hotel Best Dressed Man!
There are also prizes for other categories including the ‘Most Colourful Outfit’, ‘Most Creative Hat’, ‘Elegance is an Attitude’ and ‘Highly Commended Outfit.
This year’s judges are Brendan Courtney; stylist, presenter and Lennon Courtney designer, world famous milliner and guest of the award winning 5 star g Hotel Galway; Philip Treacy, and the fabulous fashion writer and presenter; Angela Scanlon.
