Two sisters will line out for opposing teams in this weekend’s All Ireland Ladies football qualifier between London and Sligo.

London corner forward Aine Gormely will face her sister Noelle who is Sligo’s full forward at St Peregrine’s in Blanchardstown.

Aine, the younger of the two, is a former Sligo inter-county player but moved to London last October where she plays club football with the Parnell ladies.

She told the Irish World: “I was home two weeks ago and there was a lot of controversy in our house. I am very close to my sister and it will be difficult to play against her. At least we are opposing ends of the field but I am sure we will cross paths at some stage during the sixty minutes.

“I played for Sligo for seven years so it will be hard for me to play against friends who know me and who I know inside out. Sometimes Noelles plays in goal – I hope that will not happen on Saturday. I am really passionate about Sligo football but that will have to out the window for the next few days.
