Police are searching for a man with an Irish accent who attacked a woman in Edgware by hitting her with a drinks can and punching her in the face on Friday July 18.

At 10.30pm the 29-year-old victim was making her way home from the Broadwalk Centre and sat at the Church Way entrance to call her friend.

The suspect, holding a carrier bag with the can in it, approached her and asked if she was alright.

The victim then walked away before she was stuck on the back of the head by the bag, and punched several times in the face causing her lips to split and her mouth to swell.

A struggle ensued before they both fell to the floor, in which time the woman’s shoulder was injured. She screamed to alert passers-by which caused the suspect to run away before members of the public came to her aid and alerted the police.

The suspect ran in the direction of Fairfield Crescent and is described as a white male, stocky in build aged between 25-30.

He was approximately 5ft 6ins in height, wore a grey hoody and blue jeans, with short blonde hair and facial stubble.
