ENTERTAINMENT — 22 July 2014

John and Edward Grimes have really matured since their X Factor stint, and even though their lively stage presence hasn’t toned down too much, they seem to have mastered the lower-key songs too.

Jedward sang old classics such as Lipstick and cover Under Pressure (Ice Ice Baby) in characteristically hyperactive fashion, but then slowed down for an acoustic Hey There Delilah performance at Guilfest on Saturday July 19.

A cover of Blink 182′s All The Small Things brought the roof down, even though we were stood in the basking Guildford sunshine, but Jedward haven’t lost any of their kooky charm as they showed when speaking to their fans between songs.

“Wow, look at these plastic picnic chairs, I feel like I’m in a Katy Perry video”
OR
“Hey, has anyone got some water?? Thanks! Wow it’s amazing”
“Why are you acting like you’ve never had water before??”
“Cos it tastes like I never have. I probably never did before I had this water, it tastes like it could be from Peru even!”

We’ll forgive them all that however, as it was baking hot and perhaps they were slightly dehydrated as one lucky fan found out at the end of the performance.

Jedward superfan Katy Snaith, 14, was on a weekend away to London with her Mum Sheila coming down from Cumbria.

They have travelled all over to see the Dublin brothers perform, even going to Ireland to see them in a pantomime for Katy’s birthday one year.

So when they duo threw their jackets into the crowd to cool down before they could rock out it seemed fate that Katy would claim it for her own.

“She’s shaking with excitement, I think she’s going to have a lie down!” her Mum said.

“It’s dead sweaty!” said Katy.

It made Katy the envy of all around her and prompted another parent of a fan to ask if his daughter could get a photo wearing the jacket.

And in true friendly Jedward tradition, the girls bonded over their love of all things Jedward, not being able to pick a favourite and swapped mobile details, promising to meet up at the next gig.

And in case your wondering what label the boys were wearing… it was a Zara man blazer.
