Facebook 263

Facebook is testing a new feature which will allow its users to purchase goods by simply pushing an on-screen ‘Buy’ button.

It means that the social media giant will be able to generate more profit for itself by providing direct sales to businesses to cut out the ‘middle-man’ in online shopping.

“People on desktop or mobile can click the ‘Buy’ call-to-action button on ads and page posts to purchase a product directly from a business, without leaving Facebook,” Facebook said in an online post.

So far the test has been limited to a small number of medium sized businesses in America.

Facebook have said that they will safeguard users’ debit or credit card details if it were to become a wide-spread, stressing that the feature will be built with privacy and security in mind.

Facebook said: “None of the credit or debit card information people share with Facebook when completing a transaction will be shared with other advertisers, and people can select whether or not they’d like to save payment information for future purchases.”
