An American internet company has said it will create 100 new jobs in the Irish capital by the end of this year.

The posts will be in the customer service and hospitality teams at property rental website Airbnb’s Dublin office.

Airbnb announced last September that it would be setting up its European HQ in Ringsend, with the promise of around 100 jobs.

However, the firm – whose new Dublin offices officially opened their doors today – now plans to double its workforce by the end of 2014.

Established in California seven years ago, Airbnb allows people to rent out part or all of their property while they are away or at home.

Airbnb is reportedly raising up to $500m to expand its business, a move that would value it at $10bn.
