Booking for West End musical The Commitments has been extended to April 19, 2015. Following Christmas and New Year period, the show has become the most popular in the history of the Palace Theatre.

The show’s producer Phil McIntyre said: “We’re extremely happy to announce that The Commitments has extended its current booking period to April 2015.

“The show has really found its feet in the Palace Theatre and the response from audiences has been quite incredible.”

Directed by Jamie Lloyd and adapted by Roddy Doyle from his own 1987 novel The Commitments is, which was made into a hit movie by Alan Parker in 1991, opened last October.

Promoters described it as “the story of Jimmy Rabbitte, a young working class music fan, who shapes an unlikely bunch of amateur musicians into an amazing live act, the finest soul band Dublin has ever produced”.

The cast includes Denis Grindel (Jimmy Rabbite), Ben Fox (Joey ‘The Lips’ Fagan), Killian Donnelly (Deco), Stephanie McKeon (Natalie), Sarah O’Connor (Imelda) and Jessica Cervi (Bernie).
