Warwickshire  0-12, Sligo 2-5

By Michael McGarry.

Sean Hennessy bagged seven points as never-say-die Warwickshire carved out the narrowest of wins over understrength Sligo in this National Hurling League Division 3B game at Markievicz Park on Sunday last.

The Yeats County men were having their first outing since last summer and they were off the pace of the games at times, shooting more than a dozen wides over the 70 minutes. And to add to their difficulties their star forward Keith Raymond was unable to play having sustained a leg injury in training at the nearby Sligo Institute of Technology earlier in the week. A number of other top players were also missing.

Warwickshire displayed a high degree of skill combined with admirable enthusiasm over the 70 minutes with their defence, in which Kevin Hally and Seamus Brough caught the eye, keeping the Sligo forwards at bay.

Only a handful of spectators watched the game which was played in a continuous light drizzle.
