Paul O’Donoghue has branded Cathal McCarron Round Towers’ answer to Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil. Less than five months ago the Tyrone All Star nominee was playing corner back against Mayo in an All Ireland semi-final, but last Sunday in Mitcham he was in action for Towers, and in doing so is now eligible to play for Paul Coggins’s London footballers in the National League next month.
“He’s unbelievable; when I heard that we’d got a Tyrone All Star nominee I was comparing it to Arsenal getting Ozil,” said O’Donoghue, who played for London in 2007 and last year helped Austin Stacks reach the SFC final in Kerry and who has also pulled on the jersey for Kerry in the McGrath Cup.
“He gives everyone a lift. You just have to look at the way he applies himself in training and that gives an extra 5-10 per cent to players. We’re very thankful he’s over with us and I’m sure with the lads we’ve got he’s glad to be with us as well.”
