What a race we witnessed in the Ryanair Hurdle at Leopardstown over the Christmas period and if that is anything to go by then we’re in for another cracker if all three – Hurricane Fly, Our Conor and Jezki –  line up in the BHP Irish Champion Hurdle next Sunday.

Hurricane Fly will be bidding to add to his tally of impressive Grade 1 successes and make it win number 19. The question is can he do it again or will Jezki or Our Conor come on from their last run to spoil the party?

The word on the grapevine is that the Fly has come out of his run in good nick and the Willie Mullins camp are expecting more from him. Frank Berry, racing manager to John McManus, reports Jezki to be in super form and he too has emerged from the Ryanair in great nick. The Jezki camp are really looking forward to running him again and so too am I, but I will come back to that later.

There is bound to be an improvement from Our Conor, who was running his first race of the season in the Ryanair, while Hurricane Fly will be attempting to win the race for the fourth time in a row, but in my mind he will not get things his own way.
