Brother Ciarans 1-08, Tir Chonaill Gaels 1-04

By Damian Dolan.

It was to be a day of double county final disappointment for Tir Chonaill Gaels as Brother Ciarans retained the minor championship at Ruislip on Sunday thanks to a strong second half performance.

The Gaels had first use of the strong wind at Ruislip on Sunday and despite a superb solo goal from Kieran Clarke they only led Ciarans by 1-3 to 0-1 at the break on Sunday. It shouldn’t have been enough, and so it proved.

Ciarans, led by Shane Buckley, chipped away and took the lead with five minutes to go. Joe Sullivan’s goal sealed victory for his side.

Two scores from Killian Butler gave the Gaels the lead at the end of the first quarter, but they hadn’t been unable to capitalise on the wind fully. Clarke then took matters into his own hand to beat to and rifle the ball past Dyln Buckley.
