Sunday’s Junior Championship final replay could be decided as much in the head as on the football pitch. After the dramatic events of two weeks ago, can Tir Chonaill Gaels’ young guns pick themselves up after having victory snatched from their grasp by Mike McGrath’s last gasp goal.

Even more significant now is the sight of Liam Gavaghan been helped gingerly away, just moments before McGrath’s hit and hope free pinballed around the Gaels’ goalmouth before sneaking over the goal-line.

The Greenford side will need their most potent threat at his brilliant best on Sunday. He’s already showed exactly what he can do before he went off injured, with a superbly taken first half goal and some splendid frees, especially two from close to the left hand sideline in the second half.

Gavaghan will once again be key to Tir Chonaill’s hopes, but just how badly injured he was remains to be seen. The Gaels also have concerns over Kevin McFadden, who was an injury doubt going into the game and was withdrawn at half-time to be replaced by Steffan Carr.
