Heston Gaels 4-08, Tara 0-06

By David Hennessy.

Although this game was a tough battle and Tara never gave up, a merciless Heston Gaels team ran out comfortable winners in the end to book their place in the Intermediate final against Cuchulainns.

This semi-final was won and lost in the first half. Although Tara registered some of the game’s first scores, it was Heston who really found their scoring rhythm, netting twice before the break. Another crucial period came early second half when Tara needed to hit back if they were to stand any chance of progressing, but it was Heston who made sure of victory with two more goals.

It was early in the match that Enda Gallagher, Paul McDermott and Stephen Brady hit scores for Tara. Unfortunately for their team, these would be their only points of the first half.

The Heston response would be quick and resounding when they put a passing move together, beginning in their own half. Good work from Conor Conneely, Padraig McGoldrick and Michael Keane led to Mark Kelly’s goal, as he beat Robert Whelan in the Tara goal on his near post.
